The Changeling movie trailer begins with Christine Collins (Angelina Jolie) walking in the rain, and tells us the setting is Los Angeles, 1928. You see that she is surrounded by reporters and she begins telling her story—that her son Walter disappeared. We find out that after a 5 month investigation, a boy was brought to her from Illinois, but he was not her son.
As the Changeling trailer continues, you see Christine receiving a call from Reverend Briegleb (John Malkovich), who tells her that it is his mission to bring to light all the things the L. A. police department doesn't want anyone to know. He tells her the police do not tolerate dissent, and that she is in a position to embarrass them. While Christine states that she only wants her son back, the Changeling movie trailer sets up a sense of danger for her and possibly for her son. You later see Christine arguing with a police detective that they have stopped looking for her son, but he counters that they've already found her son. As the Changeling trailer continues, you learn that Christine is arrested and committed to the psychiatric ward, but Reverend Briegleb comes looking for her. Will he be able to save her? Will he be able to get the LAPD to right their wrong and find Christine's real son? Or is Christine Collins truly insane?
